Got back to the hospital around 2.30. Dad was out of recovery and in the ward, still pretty groggy from the anaesthetic. While he was awake I did a bit of a show & tell of the christmas gifts I'd picked up in town. I read selections from Schott's Food & Drink Miscellany and we discussed the news of the day. One of my sisters came in after work & helped out with water and dinner. Hopefully he'll be good to go tomorrow morning after a night of rest. If nothing else he's doing better than the poor guy next to him in the ward whose surgery was put off until tomorrow & will likely spend christmas there.
