It Doesn't Take A Rocket Surgeon...

...to know that was a big weekend.

Kicked off Friday night with after work drinks, then a night at the pub featuring Capt Randy Roger mixed specials (absinthe, apple juice & gin/vodka).

Opted to stay in town rather than hit the coast again. Spent Saturday afternoon in Civic trying out a bunch of different foods (the Tongan fruit punch was pretty good, as was the persian meat-on-a-stick. Lamented that despite so many different things to try, the crowds were only lined up in front of stalls pushing out chicken satay sticks and Danish pancakes.

Escaped the hordes and the heat in the cinema. Smokin' Aces preview looked so good, but the feature was a bit of a let down. I had fun in it - don't get me wrong - but it wasn't the action-packed bullet-fest I was expecting. There were good moments (Jason Bateman's scenes were brilliant), but they weren't strung together right.

After a few more beers, Ash & I headed down to Weston Creek for more flicks. As the storm crashed around us, we munched on takeaway in front of Kenny (well, half of it before the ex-rental pixelated to death) and The Running Man.

In between these two greats was what would have to be one of the worst pieces of crap in recent memory. You know that Chaos isn't going to be a classic; it's direct-to-rental staring Jason Statham, Ryan Phillippe and Wesley Snipes. But we weren't expecting to be assaulted with shithouse directing, shaky photography and amateur dialogue the way we were. The Captain's briefing includes the line "It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure this one out..."! FTW?

Sunday was spent catching up with a cuz over breakfast, then heading into Civic for a Fuzzy Logic pub crawl to farewell Tim & Chris. Six hours later I stumble home & spend a couple of hours practicing on Guitar Hero II; it's heaps harder than it looks, well for an unco like me it is, and yeah, I was fairly well tipsy too.
