Viva Brisvegas! - Holidays Day 1
Made it up here in one piece!
Don't leave home without them
Once we hit cruising altitude and the seatbelt light went off the CD player went on; Corner of the Earth is a good song to watch cloud-framed sunsets by. The flight then became quite turbulent; we flew through a thunderstorm (never seen lightning so close before).
When I travel, I choose to use noise-reduction headphones; if you travel a lot (be it by trains, planes or automobiles) I'd reccommend a pair of these - I don't want industrial deafness just through engine noise, I doubt you do either.
In-flight distractions
In-flight magazines are usually pretty dodgy, but this one had a good article about the Lord of the Rings production and some ads that grabbed my interest. Firstly there was the little travel gadget that has an alarm clock as well as a smoke and motion detector, then there was the ad for the (probably 5 figure) watch. Scene: a man playing snooker with his son, taglines: "You never actually own a X. You merely look after it for the next generation." and "Begin your own tradition". OK everybody, one, two, three ... awwwwww.
Also read a few chapters of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (#4).
...elsewhere...
Came home, hugged everyone, had a drink with the olds once the sisters hit the town (apparently there were a lot of people out for a tuesday night) & played with the dog a bit before hitting the sack.
One thing I forgot about Brisbane in the summer; Mozzies that adapt to the plug-in mozzie repellants!
Today
About to hit the local Westfields, wish me luck...
