Do you see the light(s)?!
Let me preface this by saying I've had a really really good christmas.
Every year some Brisbane residents show their christmas spirit by constructing seasonal displays that usually include one or more of the following theme elements: Santa, Jesus, fake snow, live sheep, presents, sleighs and nativity scenes. The compulsory design element in these displays is a huge bunch of lights, usually strobing. Enough households are doing it now that the council runs tours and it gives the local media sufficient 'news' to remind people that 'tis the consuming season (as if all the commercials running from November weren't enough).
I'm not going to be a Scrooge and rant about the blatant waste of electricity and the enviromental impact or the potential hazards posed by these people running elaborate displays on powerboards plugged into powerboards that are plugged into other powerboards. I want to encourage this as an all-year-'round activity; why limit yourself to December to make your house look tacky?
