Weekend Forecast

[Life] Just for something a bit different, I'm throwing out a forecast while the round-up for last weekend sits in the draft folder.

Cinema - Star Wars III:
I was a big Star Wars fan as a kid, hell, even up until the first two prequels. I'm 50/50 on Episode 3; I'm keeping my expectations low in the hope of walking out of the cinema impressed. I'm not sure when or where I'll be seeing it, but I'd like to see it this weekend with a (hopefully) appreciative crowd (maybe some of the childhood joy with return by osmosis).

Tunes - Cheese on Toast:
Jem in his new DJ Sellout persona plays Toast on Friday night. I'm pretty keen to go this time 'cos I've missed all the others and I've liked the set lists Jem's been publishing: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 *8*.

Fitness - MTB Riding:
I can see why GWB wouldn't want to be disturbed during his ride, I think I might be getting the riding bug too; the giddying muscle-powered speeds, your senses hightened to detect the lie of the land, the obstacles like the drivers who don't indicate, the pedestrians who walk four-abreast blocking the path, the dogs, small children and parents with trike-prams that change speed and make turns that UFOs couldn't pull off. Fresh air, you get somewhere, or nowhere, under your own power and get the endorphin kick afterwards. It's all good.

Mind you, riding around Canberra's lake pales in comparison to this for ride scenery (particularly the last photo).

It's too dark & cold now to go for rides after work unless I flex off & get home earlier. At the moment that's not really an option, so I have to make sure I go for a couple of rides this weekend so that there's no chance I turn the new bike from good investment to another dust collector (which - in retrospect - probably would have happened if I'd gotten the new 'blades instead). Kombiman is already predicting that I'll want to upgrade in three or four months.

Spectator Sports - Ice Hockey:
I'm told the Canberra Knights play Newcastle Northstars this Saturday afternoon. I know at least one Aussie team has an NHL import, so this season I should try to get to more games.

Social - No More Weddings 'Till Feb 06:
Need to catch up with Jimmy and I may or may not have an uncle in town, so we may or may not have some beers.

Tech - New Toy:
If Mark comes through with the goods this week, my new(ish) battle station laptop will be fully operational. I think I'll load it up with music & MixMeister and see if I can't get around to one of Jimmy's old mix CD challenges that I never got around to last year. Then I'll start looking for some of the bits & pieces from 'Zilla's toolkit.

Try the bike path around mount ainslie, it is a good work out and has a bit of edge. I use to ride down black mountain in the dark with my lights off. It scared the crap out of motorists.....let's face it, they have theirs coming.
