The West Wing Wraps
The West Wing is wrapping production at the end of the current (seventh) season. Fans'll get to reminisce with a one-hour retrospective of the show as a prelude to the final episode. The retrospective will include a tribute to the late John Spencer.
Here in Australia that'll be a long time coming. The ABC has picked up The West Wing from Nine and will be showing it from season four onwards. "We will ... air it in the same spot every week, guaranteed," said now-ex-MD Russell Balding at the ABC's 2006 program launch. The programming wankers at Nine killed it halfway through season 5.
I'll be disappointed to see it go, but I was just saying the other day that the series should end with the end of the Bartlett presidency. Maybe they could've started a spin-off with the new administration (The West Wing: The Santos/Vinick Years ?) had the ratings stayed up, but I'm not sure if it would've felt the same.
