Pop

Well Pop turned out to be much bigger than I expected. We arrived at the venue (In Blue - I swear I don't know how I keep ending up there) sometime between 9.30 and 10 and there was a small group on the couches by the DJ booth, but things got better as the night went on.

Kat & Chris hugged and kissed about half a million people* as the old regulars spotted them and came over to say hello (Pop apparently ran for a while at the Akuna Club and attracted a good crowd of regulars). After a while Olivia & Tyson showed up with Kieren & "Temptation Suburb" in tow. Philbo showed up too & again got into quite animated music talk.

The club filled up slowly & the music improved, then took a small dive (one of those DJ's who thought his job was to educate the masses by playing obscure stuff noone wanted to dance to), then picked up again with respective DJ changes. After spending a bit of time lamenting the underuse of sound & light equipment, Chris put his talent where his mouth was & got into the booth and got the crowd on the floor and shakin' their respective groove-thangs with cheering and applause thrown in for good measure.

I don't know how she met 'em, but Olivia did a really nice thing and introduced our resident pagan Ms S to the group of goths who came in part-way through the night. She kept coming back to the table all excited; "Look, I've got numbers!" "We're going to swap makeup tips!" (that one got Olivia, Ms S and myself pointing out the differences between pagans & goths & suggesting that she really shouldn't do the pale makeup thing), but I think it'll be great for her to have friends like that.

Christina seemed nice, pity about the baggage.

...now back to the music, here's Blondie with Rapture...
