Singstar Country - What? Not one Dixie Chicks track?
Hmm, I think there's maybe a handful of names I recognise and maybe one or two songs, but I'm not the target demo for this particular incarnation of Singstar, given the closest I've ever come to spending money on country music was buying Two Men With The Blues. Along with the dashed expectation of missing Dixie Chicks, all I'm thinking right now is "isn't Come On Over a pop track?"
Alan Jackson - "Chattahoochee"
Kellie Pickler - "Red High Heels"
Alan Jackson - "Good Time"
Kenny Chesney - "Big Star"
Big & Rich - "Save A Horse (Ride a Cowboy)"

Brad Paisley - "Online"

What Wii Want
OK, what I want...
Nintendo launched the WiiWare service a few days ago. While the Wii Shop channel on the Wii has let people download console games from old Nintendo, Sega and NeoGeo consoles (Sonic, Street Fighter, Ghouls & Ghosts, etc), WiiWare offers new games. No retail boxes here, WiiWare is like Steam in that you pay, download and play. Which got me thinking...
Here's what I want next: port some really cool PC games over to the Wii. Start with Portal and Audiosurf. Someone please make this happen. Cheers.

It's the Interactivity
The Weekend Gamer asks if video games are the next big medium for music marketing. After a weekend of Singstar sessions, I say Yes.
(PS - For the first (and probably the last) time, tonight I beat Tysy on a song. It was Love is All Around by Wet Wet Wet.)

Spitfires 2 def Lightning Rods 1
Another challenging game in which both sides had to really work hard for every goal.
A big thanks to Ross & Tim for getting me off the field when my ankle/foot decided it had had enough. I trust the earlier goal made up for losing a player in the third half :)

Spitfires 6 def Lightning Rods 2
And I'm happy to report I wasn't completely crap in goal this week (much better than my last game); had one pretty lucky stop which made up for the easy one I let through. Think I need to harden up and throw myself into the dirt more often.Wednesday, July 18, 2007
Singstar Sari
Singstar's Lead Designer writes - unsurprisingly - on a Singstar blog answering many Singstar PS3 questions, except "Why?", for which there is only one answer: "Because".
Q: Do you only pick artists from Sony's music label?
Deano's summary answer: No
Q: Will there be any game modes supporting four microphones?
DSA: Hadn't thought of that one until now. Maybe.
Q: Will PlayStation 2 microphones work with the game?
A: Yep
Q: Can I access another country's SingStore?
DSA: Depends
Q: How long will you continue supporting SingStar for PlayStation 2 in the future?
A: "...for a while yet"
Q: What versions are you planning for in the future?
A: "...There are also a few new versions in the works that I think will surprise people."
Yeah, like Bollywood. Didn't see that one coming huh. As one Kotaku commentor said "Now you too can pretend that you are the person on screen pretending to sing the song!". Guess that's why Ashlee Simpson's on another of the discs.

Gizmodo's got a couple of posts about the Surface giant touchscreen thingy we were talking about on Saturday. Now there's a linux version.
They've also got a sweet mixing setup in a grand piano and a 200,000 brick Lego aircraft carrier.
