Online Travel Agents - Shop Around
[Travel] Not all online room booking agents are created equally...
(Continues...)
The other day I booked a single room in the Plaza Hotel Adelaide for a couple of nights over the New Years period. When I booked, Check-in.com.au had the room for $66 a night with the full rate at $75. Rates to Go had the room for $66 a night with the full rate as $77.
Rates to Go lets you book online. Check-in.com.au doesn't let you book online; you have to submit a quote request and they email you a quote. When the quote came through, they wanted to charge $100 for the 31st and then $75 for the 1st! The email quote they sent claimed a full room rate of $100 a night!
HOW DODGY ARE THESE PEOPLE?!

Tell me about it. I have given up on online booking. Tried to book accomodation in NY last year for NYE. Booked 2 months in advance and booked for a solid week (from 28 Dec to 3 Jan). Computer rang it up as booked, confirmed etc etc. Checked into the place, confirmed, payed etc. Only to be told on 31 Dec that they didn't have a place for us since the computer booking hadn't booked us in the the NYE night! f$^%$k'n dodgy arse system hadn't either - but nothing came up on the confirmation email or online - you had to drill into the time frame and see it on their 'calender'. I try to avoid these "we'll book it cheaply - you turn up" systems.
Just ranting too. Merry Xmas Dean.
James (now in London)
That sucks, but you're in London & that's cool. Are you getting a white christmas?
No white Xmas - not really that cold either.
